*These values are a starting point. Always check the max pressure rating printed on your tire sidewall and rim. Never exceed manufacturer limits.
Our custom calculator's algorithm produces results that are consistently within or extremely close to the widely accepted professional recommendations for all three major bike disciplines.
Features Included:
- Dual Unit Support: Toggles between Metric (kg/mm/Bar) and Imperial (lbs/inch/PSI).
- Total System Weight: Accounts for rider + bike + gear.
- Advanced Modifiers: Adjusts for Tubeless setups (allows lower pressure) and Wet Conditions (improves traction).
- Discipline Specifics: Distinct algorithms for Road, Gravel, MTB, and City/Hybrid.
- Front/Rear Bias: Calculates the 40/60 weight distribution physics (Front tires need less pressure than rear).
Road Bike Tire Pressure Chart (PSI)
(Assumes dry pavement, standard setup)
| Tire Width (mm) | PSI (Imperial) | Bar (Metric) | Notes |
| 23 mm | 85 - 90 | 5.9 - 6.2 | Narrow, high-speed tires |
| 25 mm | 80 - 85 | 5.5 - 5.9 | Standard performance road |
| 28 mm | 70 - 75 | 4.8 - 5.2 | Comfort and speed balance |
| 32 mm | 60 - 65 | 4.1 - 4.5 | Endurance, rough pavement |
Gravel Bike Tire Pressure Chart (PSI)
(Assumes mixed gravel/dirt terrain, tubeless setup)
| Tire Width (mm) | PSI (Imperial) | Bar (Metric) | Notes |
| 35 mm | 38 - 42 | 2.6 - 2.9 | Race gravel/Cyclocross |
| 40 mm | 34 - 38 | 2.3 - 2.6 | Standard all-around gravel |
| 45 mm | 30 - 34 | 2.1 - 2.3 | Rougher gravel/more comfort |
| 50 mm (2.0") | 25 - 30 | 1.7 - 2.1 | High-volume, chunky terrain |
Mountain Bike (MTB) Tire Pressure Chart (PSI)
(Assumes trail riding, tubeless setup)
| Tire Width (Inches/mm) | PSI (Imperial) | Bar (Metric) | Notes |
| 2.2" (56 mm) | 20 - 24 | 1.4 - 1.7 | XC/Hardpack trails |
| 2.4" (61 mm) | 18 - 22 | 1.2 - 1.5 | All-Mountain/Trail |
| 2.6" (66 mm) | 16 - 20 | 1.1 - 1.4 | Aggressive trail/Enduro |
General Adjustment Guidelines
The pressures above are starting points. Always check the max pressure printed on your tire or rim sidewall.
| Factor | Adjustment Rule |
| System Weight (Rider + Bike + Gear) | For every 10 kg (22 lbs) change in total weight, adjust PSI by +-2 (Road) or +-1b(Gravel/MTB). |
| Front Tire | The front tire carries around 40% of the load. Run the front pressure 3 to 5 PSI lower than the rear. |
| Tubeless Setup | If running tubeless, you can typically reduce the pressure by 5 to 10% for better grip and comfort. |
| Wet/Loose Terrain | Reduce pressure by 2 to 3 PSI for increased traction and control. |
| Riding Style | If you corner aggressively or ride rocky terrain, add 1 to 2 PSI to prevent tire "squirm" and protect rims. |
