BTF Race Predictor
Calculated using imperial units for Bike/Run as per UK road standards. Swim remains metric (meters).
Trainer’s Context: How to Read UK-Specific Results
In the UK, the British Triathlon Federation (BTF) sets the rules for most sanctioned events. When analyzing your results from this calculator or a real race, keep these three “British” factors in mind:
The Super Sprint Factor
UK clubs frequently host “Super Sprints” (often 400m pool swim, 10k bike, 2.5k run). These are high-intensity races. In the calculator, I have converted these to Miles for the bike and run to help you pace yourself against your car’s speedometer or your GPS watch.
Drafting Rules (Road/Bike)
In most British age-group triathlons, drafting is illegal. This means you must stay 10 meters away from the rider in front. If you use the calculator and find your real-world bike time is much slower, check if you were fighting a headwind alone—this is very common on exposed UK courses.
Transition Areas
In many UK races (especially those in parks or seaside towns), the transition area can be very long. You might have a 400-meter run from the water to your bike.
- T1: Includes the run from water + changing.
- T2: Includes racking the bike + putting on shoes.
- Trainer Tip: If your UK race has a “long run” to T1, add an extra 2–3 minutes to the “Transitions” field in the calculator.
