Giant Revolt Stack and Reach
The Giant Revolt is a premier gravel bike that utilizes a specific stack and reach philosophy tailored for off-road stability and multi-surface versatility. Compared to Giant’s TCR road racing bike, the Revolt features a significantly higher stack and a shorter reach. This geometry is designed to give the rider more control when descending on loose gravel or navigating technical trails. For instance, a size Medium Revolt has a stack of 572mm and a reach of 381mm. This allows for a more upright position, which is crucial for visibility and balance when the terrain becomes unpredictable.
The Revolt also features a “Flip Chip” at the rear dropout, which changes the wheelbase but doesn’t directly alter stack and reach. However, the inherent geometry encourages a shorter stem compared to a road bike, which quickens the steering to compensate for the longer wheelbase. For riders transitioning from road to gravel, the Revolt’s stack and reach offer a familiar but noticeably more stable platform, ensuring comfort over vibrating surfaces without sacrificing the efficiency needed for long-distance bike-packing or gravel racing events.
